Malanka Festival

A reveler celebrates the Malanka Festival, a holiday welcoming the New Year according to the Orthodox calendar and anticipating the coming of spring, which began at sundown, on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 in Krasnoilsk, Ukraine. The celebrations, which consist of costumed villagers going in a group from house to house singing, playing music, and performing skits, will last all night and until the following evening.
