USPENIVKA, UKRAINE - JUNE 15, 2018: Aleksandr Podlesnyi, 41, left, and his neighbor Aleksandr Soldatenko, 30, outside Podlesnyi's home on Friday, June 15, 2018 in Uspenivka, Ukraine. In December, Podlesnyi was attacked by a wolf in his yard; Soldatenko came to his aid and called soldiers stationed across the street, who arrived to shoot and kill the wolf. A hunting ban in the Donetsk region has led to a boom in the populations of some animals such as pheasants, rabbits, and foxes, and created a safe haven for wolves, some of which have moved from regions to the west where hunting is allowed and from the east where the conflict is still ongoing.
