Amber Mining

Members of the local police and the Zhytomyr regional branch of the National Guard turn away from blowing dust at a large illegal amber mining site on Thursday, May 5, 2016 in Olevskyi District, Ukraine. Pine trees, the sap from which eventually becomes amber, prefer sandy soil, and when the trees are removed the sand blows freely.
